We’re bringing back our most intensive class yet! Last year I offered this very hands on sugar cookie decorating class. If you’ve been coming to sugar cookie classes and have more questions about cookie recipes, baking cookies, making royal icing and getting the perfect icing consistencies, this is the class for you!

This will be a small intimate group, for more individual attention. I encourage you to bring lunch and snacks to eat throughout, as we will be stopping for breaks. This class will include the following items:

  • An instructional booklet with recipes for both sugar cookies and royal icing, as well as a list of tips and tricks for getting professional looking sugar cookies in home. Also included in the booklet will be tips for baking and decorating, as long as a reference list of where you can purchase supplies and ingredients you will need for baking and decorating.
  • Part 1 of the class will include making sugar cookie dough from scratch. This will chill while working on other parts of class, and then we’ll bake them off to sit and decorate the last part of class.
  • Part 2 of the class will include making royal icing from scratch. You will observe what the icing should look like, and how to store based on your preparation needs. You will learn how to create the consistencies you need for a variety of decorating techniques, including how to work with the recipe, how to create a stiffer consistency for finer details, and how to get a flood consistency so your icing isn’t too thick or too runny when you are hoping to accomplish a smooth flood consistency for your decorating.
  • Part 3 of the class will include rolling out your own cookie dough, cutting your shapes, and baking off. You’ll see what your cookie dough should look like, tips for sheet pans to use, and how to tell when your cookies are done.
  • Part 4 of the class will include decorating your cookies with royal icing! This part will be structured like our regular decorating classes, going step by step after making your own colors and bagging your icing. You’ll learn how to use a flood consistency, how to use wet on wet techniques to create fancy designs, and how to use stiffer consistencies for fine details. You’ll them learn how to store your cookies, to keep them fresh, and tips for packaging and gifting ideas.

Minimum age for this particular class is 12 years old. Every person in the room must register to participate, if you bring a child, you must have a registration for them and for you, in order to participate. This helps with spacing and seating in the room.

Upon signing up for this class, you agree to all rules and terms in the description about our classes on the website at https://buffalocakepops.com/product-category/classes/. Classes may be canceled on account of low attendance or on account of changing CDC/NY State guidelines for Covid 19 gatherings. We need 4 people signed up for a weekend class to run, and 6 people signed up on a week night to hold a class, but this number may change at the discretion of our business at any time. As of 12/9/22, there are no refunds for classes. If you are no longer able to attend a class you have signed up for, you may transfer your registration to someone else, you may notify us that you can no longer attend and we can try to fill your spot for you (if, and only if, someone signs up in your place, we can refund you), or you may use your class credit to purchase desserts from our bakery within 3 months of your class date.
