Class Details

Everyone loves sourdough bread—but sourdough starter can be used to create so much more! In this hands-on class, we’ll explore the beautiful and versatile sourdough galette, a rustic, free-form pastry that is perfect for both sweet and savory creations.

Together, we’ll make a beautiful apple galette to take home, while exploring the possibilities of sourdough pastry and learning how galettes can become an easy, impressive addition to holiday gatherings and dinner parties.

In this class, you will:

  • Learn how to use sourdough starter to create a tender, flavorful galette crust.
  • Receive a developed sourdough starter, lovingly replicated from my own, so you can continue your sourdough journey at home.
  • Create your own apple galette in class to take home and enjoy.
  • Explore both sweet and savory galette combinations and discover why they make such wonderful options for sharing at holiday meals and gatherings.
  • Receive a detailed recipe book featuring sourdough galette recipes for both sweet and savory fillings, along with process photographs and resources to guide you at home.

This is more than a pastry-making class. It’s an invitation to slow down, work with your hands, explore the versatility of sourdough, and create something beautiful to share around the table.

Come make something delicious. Leave with a galette, sourdough starter, and inspiration for your holiday table.

About the Instructor:

My name is Ashley Smith and I am the woman who wears many hats! I am a mama, healing artist, health enthusiast, homesteader, mentor, and a self taught cook who loves to collaborate and share with others what I learn and practice. I have created Sacred Community Nourishment because I believe food is a sacred bridge to ourselves, each other, and the earth. Cooking, our relationship to food, and the communities we break bread with are deeply sacred. How I interact with food in my daily life is both practical and magical. When I teach classes, not only do I share techniques, I also teach how to weave magic into the mundane in an effort to improve life. I love gathering with groups and cooking together because as a community we can expand feelings of joy and connection while developing confidence and skills.
