Sourdough Focaccia: A Hands-On Baking Experience

Join me for a hands-on class dedicated to the art and joy of sourdough focaccia. This beloved bread is as versatile as it is beautiful—crisp and golden on the outside, airy and tender within, with rich olive oil settling into its signature nooks and crannies.

Focaccia can be transformed in countless ways: the perfect base for rustic sandwiches, a flavorful foundation for bruschetta, or a canvas for both sweet and savory toppings. In this class, we’ll explore not just how to make focaccia, but how to truly understand it—so you can recreate and adapt it with confidence at home.

In this class, you will:

  • Learn how to use and care for an active sourdough starter to ferment gut healthy sourdough Focaccia Bread.
  • Receive the gift of a developed sourdough starter that Ashley has replicated for you from her own.
  • Create your own savory or sweet focaccia to take home.
  • View a demonstration on how to mix your own focaccia dough to ferment and make at home.
  • Be prepared with a detailed recipe booklet with process images, recipes from class, and sourdough schedules that will support and guide you through making this recipe at home.
  • Taste samples throughout class.

About the Instructor:

My name is Ashley Smith and I am the woman who wears many hats! I am a mama, healing artist, health enthusiast, homesteader, mentor, and a self taught cook who loves to collaborate and share with others what I learn and practice. I have created Sacred Community Nourishment because I believe food is a sacred bridge to ourselves, each other, and the earth. Cooking, our relationship to food, and the communities we break bread with are deeply sacred. How I interact with food in my daily life is both practical and magical. When I teach classes, not only do I share techniques, I also teach how to weave magic into the mundane in an effort to improve life. I love gathering with groups and cooking together because as a community we can expand feelings of joy and connection while developing confidence and skills.
