ABOUT US
Buffalo Cake Pops is a boutique bakery specializing in cake pops, custom sugar cookies, and joyful hands-on decorating experiences. We’re community-focused, creative, and passionate about sweetening life’s celebrations. We’re looking for a Bakery Manager to lead our team and operations with enthusiastic heart, hustle, and high standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily bakery operations, including production schedules, inventory, and staffing
- Supervise and support the bakery team to meet production goals and maintain quality
- Assist in hiring, training, and managing bakery staff
- Ensure consistent execution of recipes and decorating standards
- Coordinate custom orders, class prep, and special events
- Manage inventory, vendor orders, and supply costs
- Delegate a team to help maintain cleanliness and organization in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Assist with front-of-house needs, customer service, and order pickups as needed
- Communicate with the owner regularly about performance, ideas, and issues
- Develop new menu items, including designing new baking and decorating classes
- Assist in leading and teaching decorating classes, as knowledge and comfort level grows
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in a bakery, café, or food production environment
- 2+ year of supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with food safety practices and local health codes
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Availability to work primarily week days and Saturdays, select week nights and Sundays, as needed
- Kind and understanding, but firm, leadership skills
Preferred:
- Experience with production baking, small batch baking, dessert decorating
- Experience in a small business, startup, or creative kitchen environment
- Comfort using scheduling, inventory, or POS software (Microsoft Sheets & Docs)
- Passion for working with the community

PRODUCTION-FOCUSED RESPONSIBILITIES (Team Management Emphasis)
- Lead daily production check-ins to review orders, assign tasks, and adjust workloads
- Create and maintain weekly prep schedules based on custom orders, classes, and inventory needs
- Assign production tasks (e.g. baking, cake pop rolling, decorating, packaging) based on team members’ strengths and speed
- Train and mentor team members in consistent techniques for baking, decorating, and packaging
- Ability to create, maintain and make adjustments as needed to systems for tracking order progress and ensuring all items are ready on time and to spec
- Conduct quality control checks throughout the day—ensuring every product meets Buffalo Cake Pops’ standards
- Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the kitchen and implement practical solutions
- Hold team accountable for cleanliness, accuracy, speed, and professionalism
- Cross-train staff to increase flexibility and coverage in all production roles
- Ensure mise en place (prep and ingredients) is always ready for efficient flow during high-volume days
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PRODUCTION-FOCUSED BAKERY MANAGER
- Strong knowledge of baking timelines and production scaling (e.g. doubling recipes, maximizing oven space, batch work)
- Experience creating and managing production schedules for a team (e.g. Google Sheets, written boards, bakery software)
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a food production setting—preferably 3+ people
- Working knowledge of bakery equipment (e.g. mixers, convection ovens, packaging tools, airbrushes, etc.)
- Efficiency-minded with a “systems thinker” approach to reducing waste, wait times, and missed steps
- Experience in a high-volume or custom-order bakery, especially one with deadlines and multiple product lines (like cake pops + cookies + event prep)
- Calm under pressure—can prioritize and pivot when timelines shift or orders change
- Natural communicator who offers clear feedback, praise, and direction
- Hands-on leadership style—not afraid to jump into production as needed
OPTIONAL BUT VALUABLE
- Can troubleshoot recipe inconsistencies and know when to adjust baking variable
- Familiar with labor cost management and how to optimize staffing based on demand
- Able to document SOPs (standard operating procedures) for team reference
- Assist with content creation and posting online, updates of desserts in retail shop, classes, custom order examples, etc
